I have been looking for just the right reference photo for a piece that I wanted to title "Awake My Soul and Sing" and I found it in the work of Instagram photographer @onakan_s. I was given permission to use it and was inspired to create this piece using stick, vine, pencil, and powdered charcoal on toned paper.
Michelle Garlock is a classically trained artist who has studied with several artists across the US and internationally in Italy and France. She has a BS in Art Therapy and a Masters in Educational Administration. She is the owner of Master Peace Painting that specializes in traditional drawing and painting as well as decorative arts. She is a certified forensic artist and assists Stuart Parks Forensic Associates in teaching law enforcement personnel and civilians how to draw. Michelle is a jewelry designer that specializes in wire wrapping. Michelle is a certified teacher offering private and group lessons in drawing, watercolor, acrylics, oils, and jewelry making.
