"Captured By the Light" is based on a photo I took in Montana. This cougar was so powerful and majestic. To see him move in and out of the trees like a phantom was both exciting and unsettling. I knew that charcoal would be a challenge as I wanted to capture his facial features and other small details, but at the same time I knew that this medium would add to the mystery of the piece.
Michelle Garlock is a classically trained artist who has studied with several artists across the US and internationally in Italy and France. She has a BS in Art Therapy and a Masters in Educational Administration. She is the owner of Master Peace Painting that specializes in traditional drawing and painting as well as decorative arts. She is a certified forensic artist and assists Stuart Parks Forensic Associates in teaching law enforcement personnel and civilians how to draw. Michelle is a jewelry designer that specializes in wire wrapping. Michelle is a certified teacher offering private and group lessons in drawing, watercolor, acrylics, oils, and jewelry making.
